When you rent online from Blockbuster, you can take as long as you like to watch these DVD movies and TV shows. There are no due dates and no late fees (or "extended viewing fees," as the Blockbuster Video stores have taken to calling them). Of course, let's be real, the longer you keep your DVDs without returning them, the less valuable the service becomes.
What you'll want to do to maximize your DVD rental dollar, is watch 'em as soon as they come in and then send 'em back!
When you return a movie, Blockbuster Online will send you the next one on your list.
They call it "unlimited" DVD rentals... and it truly is... with the understanding that you can only have a specified number of DVDs out at one time. (Depending on the plan you choose, you may have up to three, five or eight movies out at a time.)
So watch your DVD movies and return them... and then you can watch some more!
Blockbuster Online uses a network of 30 distribution centers across the United States to get your DVDs delivered fast!
In most cases, movies you order will be shipped from a distribution center serving your general geographic location. Sometimes, depending on your movie selections and the priorities established in your queue, your DVDs might ship from more than one distribution center.
For competitve reasons, Blockbuster has been pretty darn quiet about the location of their distribution center locations and there is precious little information at blockbuster.com about them. Blockbuster says about 70% of the country will receive DVDs within one business day from these distribution centers, with two-day service nearly everywhere else. (Delivery to Hawaii and Alaska may take longer.)
In 2005, Blockbuster Online will gain a competitive advantage as they enlist their network of more than 4,500 Blockbuster stores nationwide for inventory support and to act as local distribution centers. What this means is that you will eventually be able to order online, receive your DVDs by mail and return them by mail or at your local Blockbuster store.
It also means speedier delivery because an out-of-stock title may be available at a store location, even when none are on hand in the distribution centers. And if you live in an area with no distribution center nearby, shipping directly from a retail location may be the quickest way to get your DVD's to you!
You won't pay shipping charges when you rent from Blockbuster. They pay the postage - both ways!
Free shipping via First Class Mail to any USA address is included in your monthly unlimited DVD rental plan. When you're done watching a DVD, pop it into the postage-paid Blockbuster rental return envelope that came with it and drop it off in any US mail box. When Blockbuster receives it, they'll send you the next title on your list, generally the same day.
(Blockbuster Online also ships to APO/FPO addresses and military bases; turn-around time should be the same as regular First Class Mail service to those locations.)
